Midfoot Arthritis

Arthritis of the many small joints of the midfoot, easily overlooked because of the number of joints involved.

About this condition

The midfoot is made up of many small joints that absorb load during walking. When these joints wear, patients feel pain and swelling across the top of the foot. Because the pattern is easily missed, special X-ray views are often needed to confirm the diagnosis.
